The NBA House is in town!
The NBA House is the ultimate fan experience where there are a multitude of basketball drills, interactive activities and a lot, and I mean A LOT, of free giveaways.
The basketball drills had something for everyone to enjoy. If you’re a shooter, you’ll probably want to head over to the Taco Bell Buzzer Beater challenge. Here, you’d re-enact game winning shots from the likes of James Harden to Kemba Walker to Anthony Davis. If you’re more into handles and working on your dribble, they had a Kumho training drill where coaches and NBA Legends like Nate Archibald helped young ballers step up their game. Lastly, the main court featured everything from a 3-point shootout to games of knockout. The Washington Wizards’ cheerleaders, the Wizard Girls, put on amazing performances in between the competitions and livened up the crowd early in the morning.
If you wanted to walk away with some giveaways, the interactive activities would be the spots to check out. Samsung was giving fans the opportunity to design their own mini basketball hoop, tote bag or t-shirt on the new Galaxy Note. Panini was giving out NBA sticker books where you can collect every player and team in the league to complete your album. I received one and got stickers of Melo, Kobe, KD, John Wall & Kyrie Irving so I guess you can say I’m off to a good start with my album!
Fans around the venue seemed to be having a blast as there were people old and young celebrating the first All-Star game in NYC since ’98. I asked a young kid with a Melo jersey how he felt about the experience, and, smiling ear-to-ear, replied with, “I took a sick day from school today, but I’m not sick.”
I think he deserved one day off from school for such a cool and unique experience!
